Why Your Support Matters

  • Sulam’s enrollment grew by 40% this year and demand continues to surge for the 2025-2026 school year.

  • One in five children is diagnosed with a diverse learning need.

  • We provide inclusive K-12 education both inside and outside the classroom, operating within Berman Hebrew Academy and Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School, ensuring that every student receives the support they need to thrive.

Honoree

  • Lisa Lederman joined the Sulam family in 2018, when her oldest son, Mitchell, began middle school. Over the next six years, she watched him thrive in all areas of school life, thanks to the dedication and specialized support provided by Sulam’s team of special educators. In 2023, Lisa had the chance to experience Sulam’s impact firsthand when she substituted as an instructional assistant  in the classroom. This experience deepened her appreciation for the wide range of supports Sulam offers, helping Mitchell and other students grow both as students and as individuals.

Originally from Montreal, Canada, Lisa earned her Master of Social Work from The Wurzweiler School of Social Work at Yeshiva University. Lisa’s professional journey includes work as a social worker at a New York City hospital and at the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington. She also served as a care manager consultant specializing in geriatric issues, bringing her compassion and expertise to every role she’s held.

In 2002, she moved to Washington, D.C., where she met her late husband, Gordon, z”l. Today, Lisa lives in Kemp Mill with her three children: Mitchell, a senior at Sulam, and Kyle, a sophomore and Morgan, a seventh grader, both at the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School.

Lisa attends the Kemp Mill Synagogue and is a highly regarded community member in Silver Spring. She is grateful for the warmth and support she receives from her family, friends, and the broader Kemp Mill community.
